So this is a bit of a different type of post! As I have only had the Aldi Lacura Exfoliating Mud Mask for a few days this is more of a first impressions rather than a full review.
I am a big fan of the Lacura skincare range from Aldi having previously used the Expert day and night creams. So when I seen this was going to be in stores as part of their weekly special buys on Thursday I just had to grab some. It was described in the media as being similar to the Glam Glow Mud Mask but at a fraction of the cost – €7.99 versus €45 for the Glam Glow. Now I have never tried any of the Glam Glow products so cannot compare.
The Lacura Exfoliating Mud Mask lists Clay, Extracts of Green Tea, Witch Hazel and Red Algae among it’s ingredients and you get 50ml of product in the Jar. The packaging feels and looks very high end.
The Aldi Lacura Exfoliating Mud Mask claims
Immediately after use:
- Skin will be left looking more radiant and feel firmer,
- Skin will appear smoother and brighter and feel revitalised.
After four weeks:
- Fine lines and wrinkles will be visibly minimised
- The mask will help to refine and even out skin tone
- Skin will look younger and visibly clearer
- Pores will be left visibly tighter and minimised
Now obviously I have only had this for a few days so cannot attest to most of the above claims as I have only used it once! But what I will do is tell you about my experience so far…..
The directions say to apply an even layer over the face – avoiding the delicate eye area of course. After 5-10 minutes wash off with warm water.
For me I found the best way to apply a nice even layer was to use a clean flat foundation type brush as I could paint it on to my face for want of a better description.
Straight after I applying I immediately felt it setting and tightening over my skin. I did feel a slight tingle and maybe even a slight sting. I won’t lie I was a bit scared to leave it on as I have no experience of using anything like this but I persevered and left it on for the recommended time.
Now when it came to removing it is where it got a bit tricky and I just had a notion to grab one of my face mitts to help remove it as it did feel fairly well set on my face. This is also where the exfoliating element comes in to play. As you rub it off the tiny beads really scrub your skin. I had visions of having a big tomatoe red face! It did take a good bit of rubbing to remove it all and I will say it is quite harsh on the skin – but again this is my first time using this type of product.
Once it was all removed my skin definitely felt extremely clean and smooth. There was no lasting irritation or stinging and it wasn’t overly red despite my initial worries. As per the above claims my skin did feel firmer and looked brighter. The only thing I will say is that I would not recommend this product for someone with very sensitive skin as I have said it is quite harsh. My skin did feel a little drier than usual so I just used a good heavy night cream straight after
I must reiterate this is just a first impressions post of the Adli Lacura Exfoliating Mud Mask and I will continue to use the product as directed. I will update this post after four weeks of use as to whether it lives up to it’s claims or not.
Unfortunately Aldi’s special buy’s usually don’t tend to last long on shelves but if you do happen to see some Lacura Exfoliating Mud Mask left in your local Aldi store GRAB it. However if you have missed out they sometimes bring popular products back so keep an eye out.
If you did mange to get some and have tried it let me know in the comments below…..
