Urban Decay Naked Illuminated and Liquid Aura

Hey everyone, hoping you have had a good week? Autumn has well and truly arrived and brought with it duller days. But that doesn’t mean we have to have dull makeup! These two new babies from Urban Decay will have you glowing even when the weather isn’t. Say hello to Naked Illuminated and Liquid Aura!

Now, like a lot of people I absolutely adore the Naked range of eyeshadow palettes from Urban decay and until recently I hadn’t really ventured into the brand’s other products. This all changed when a new standalone store – the first here in Ireland – opened in Grafton Street, Dublin. We do have Urban Decay Counters in the likes of Debenhams and House of Fraser around the country but this new store is like an Urban Decay wonderland, stocking all of the brand’s well known and loved products aswell as a lounge and multiple makeup stations.

Both Naked Illuminated (Fireball) and Liquid Aura are exclusive to the Grafton Street store and they were my main reason for visiting.

Liquid Aura is like nothing I have used before. It is described as an illuminating mix in medium but is also a bit of a multipurpose product!

It’s intended use is to mix into your favourite foundation to give your skin extra luminosity and glow. Now obviously if you are using an already luminous foundation this is not really going to do much. If however you use a matte foundation or semi matte that you find looks flat after application then this is what you need. You simply mix one or two drops into your foundation and apply in your usual way. The liquid itself is white with a thick consistency, if you look closely at it you can see a kind of pearlescent hue to it.

Urban Decay Liquid AuraI have been using the L’Oréal Infallible matte foundation and while I love how it sits on my skin I did want just a little bit of luminosity so this is the reason I purchased this product. I had no issues whatsoever with Liquid Aura changing the colour or wear time of my foundation.

Another way Liquid Aura can be used is as a liquid highlighter. The very helpful assistant in the store showed me how you can just tap a little of the product onto the high points of your face after you have applied your base and then set with a little highlighting powder.

You get 24mls of product contained in a beautiful pearlescent glass bottle with a pipette style applicator.

The second product I chose is the Naked Illuminated in the shade Fireball. If you read my previous post Here you will know I am a little bit like a magpie when it comes to anything shiney like highlighters 🙂

Naked illuminated is described as a shimmering powder for face and body. A smooth, silky powder containing microfine shimmer.

Now whilst Naked Illuminated is not exclusive to the Grafton street store – the shade Fireball is.

The shade is a gorgeous soft peachy pink that would suit most skintones. It does look a little intimidating in the pan but don’t let that put you off. I like to use this both as a highlight and lightly over the cheeks with blusher. It gives the most gorgeous illuminated glow suitable for a subtle daytime look or you could amp it up and apply a bit more for a more nightime/going out look. It lasts really well on the skin and doesn’t seem to fade after hours of wearing it. And whilst it does look glittery in the pan this does not seem to transfer to the skin on application.

You get 6g of product contained in a gorgeous duo chrome coloured box. It has a magnetic closure so it wont end up all over your makeup bag. There is also a decent sized mirror in the lid as well as great little brush contained in a separate compartment underneath.

Both Urban Decay Naked Illuminated (Fireball) and Liquid Aura are exclusives to the Grafton street store here In Ireland and they are priced at €29.50 each. Naked Illuminated does come in three other shades which you can purchase in your local Debenhams or House of Fraser as well as online Here
Have you tried either of these products or any of the other shades in the Naked Illuminated range? Let me know in the comments section below
